AbstractFootball is safer now than ever before; however, as players still suffer the long-term effects of CTE, we have to ask, what more can be done? Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a brain disease caused by repeated hits to the head, and for football players, this disease will be the most damaging tackle of them all. Symptoms increase with time, affecting behavior control, mood swings, physical instability, loss of executive function, depression, and thoughts of suicide. The joy, fame, and money players receive playing the game doesn’t compare to the suffering they experience later in life.
